DURI.AN Lunch is a school feeding program that takes place in Van Ho: a community of nine villages with nearly 8,000 residents in the Son La province, about 150km from Hanoi. The villages face significant challenges such as low access to health care, education, and drinking water. These challenges are worsened due to a lack of infrastructure connecting the villages with larger towns in the area.
Our objective is to contribute to the development of the children by reducing the malnutrition rate through the provision of a regular and nutritious lunch. Meals will provided 5 days a week to 85 children in preschools in Pa Che 2, Pa Cop and Sao Do.
Our fundraising goal is $10,000 USD to provide nutritious school lunches for 85 pre-K students in two villages for the entire school year. This project is implemented by CSDS.
Although Vietnam has 2360 rivers and an abundance of surface water due to rainfall, it is reported that only 39% of the rural population has access to potable water for consumption and sanitation. There is also evidence of arsenic contamination and other pollutants that exacerbate the risk of clean water source. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental has stated that almost 80% of the diseases in Vietnam are caused by unsafe water. Deep well water is one of the solutions for providing clean, safe water suitable for consumption in rural Vietnam.
Our fundraising goal is $200 per well for a family in rural villages in Vietnam. This project is implemented by the Tu Bi Foundation.
According to a survey by the Office of Preventive Health and Environment in March 2012, as much as 50% of rural schools lack access to clean drinking water, and 5% of the schools use water from rivers, lakes, or ponds. 20% of schools have no access to water, and more than 52% have no drinking water for students during the school day.
“Clean Water For School ” is a community-based project aiming to support rural schools by financing and implementing the installation of a water filtration equipment, wells, and water tank supply for the students, which help them grow up healthy and improve their academic results.
Our fundraising goal is $600 USD to fund 1 clean water system for a school. This project is implemented by For a Better Life Foundation Dai-ichi Life Vietnam.
